“Free returns have become a basic expectation in the e-commerce world. And with record breaking e-commerce sales come the avalanche of returns. According to Forbes, that cost will be around $550 billion to retailers in 2020. They also report that 17 billion items are returned each year worldwide. Next hurdle-storage. UPS expects to handle 1 million packages a day with returned merchandise, quickly filling up the warehouses that were just emptied. Stricter policies to help companies’ pocketbooks and storage space are expected with the assumption that this trend will continue each year.” -Adam Abushagur
