TAG Industrial Market Watch: June 29, 2019
“Canadian-based company Shopify plans to spend $1 billion on U.S. based fulfillment centers to enter the e-commerce ring with mammoth Amazon. Shopify’s smart inventory allocation technology will supposedly make deliveries faster and cheaper. But Amazon has many pet projects and continues to venture outside its traditional e-commerce platform. It remains unseen that any company could not only make up the legwork of Amazon, but also surpass their influence on consumers. As always, whatever e-commerce giants try for the top spot, it is a win for industrial real estate.”
