Good News Not Quite Tempting Enough, Apparently
So far in this shortened week, strong U.S. retail sales and employment data, solid economic news out of China, optimistic signals from the trade talks and a decent start to the earnings season have not been enough to spur much risk appetite. Data showed retail sales jumped by the most since September 2017 and unemployment claims fell. Even with the good news, investors stayed with the safe haven of U.S. Treasuries as the yield on the 10-year slipped to a low of 2.57% for the week.
